The event's primary mission was to inspire young minds to tackle community problems through innovative thinking and teamwork. Year 6 Pupils were tasked with identifying a community issue, proposing a solution, and, where possible, creating prototypes. They also outlined plans for expanding their projects into sustainable businesses and contributing to charitable causes.
One team recognised the growing issue of childhood obesity and devised a solution centered around physical activity. They introduced a program offering football freestyling classes, aiming to make exercise fun and engaging for children. The pupils showcased their skills and shared how such activities could inspire more children to stay active, promoting a healthier lifestyle.
Another group tackled the dual issues of environmental sustainability and the fast fashion crisis. They proposed a creative project called "Candy Factory," which transforms sweet wrappers into fashionable clothing. The team designed prototypes of garments made from recycled candy wrappers, demonstrating an innovative way to reduce waste and promote sustainable fashion practices.
The competition was so strong, the judges, Rev Ian Whitely and Caroline Wren struggled to award one winner, and had joint winners instead! Pro Health from Lingfield Primary and Super Snack Shack from Lingfield College shared the title ‘Most impactful idea’.
Pro Health suggested setting up healthy food franchise selling healthy meals (rice bowls) and setting up near gyms where they would attract a healthy interest. They delivered a very confident presentation, well thought through menus and aimed to tackle childhood obesity and give back to charity, no surprise they were joint winners!
The Super Snack Shack, created really vibrant colourful smoothies, including mango and dragon fruit, honey and oat bites and cookies. Lots of preparation had gone into trying different ingredients to get the best taste and combination. The group agreed to carry on with their idea so let’s watch this space! Also a worthy joint winner!
The Partnership Enterprise event highlighted the incredible potential of young minds to address community challenges through collaboration and innovation.
