Bad for farmers and bad for nature
The current food system is failing farmers, nature, and consumers.
We need a coherent strategy for food and farming, recognising farming's role in producing food, protecting nature, and building climate resilience. Farmers need fair treatment and fair prices for what they produce. The UK Government must prioritise sustainable practices to reduce costs, protect our environment, and build food security.
The Wildlife Trusts are calling for better policy so that all farmers can move to resilient, nature-friendly farming – and so they are not undermined by bad policy.
