On Friday 10 and Saturday 11 January St Catherine’s will be collecting unwanted Christmas trees from outside people’s homes in Crawley, Horsham, East Grinstead, Redhill and Reigate, in return for a donation towards their care.
The local charity is looking for Volunteer Drivers and Volunteer Driver Assistants to help collect trees and return them to a drop-off location for recycling. Working in teams of three, volunteers will be given a route to follow, collecting approximately 40 trees from across their area.
Emma Butler, Events and Campaigns Fundraiser at St Catherine’s said:
“We need more than 40 volunteers and 14 vans for our Christmas tree collections to be a success. If you can spare some time, we’d love to hear from you. And if you have access to a van that you’re willing to use, even better!
“We hope to raise more than £10,000 for our hospice – vital funds that are needed now more than ever.”
Benita Potts generously helped the charity collect trees last winter. She said:
"I had a great time out in the fresh air with some lovely people and we had lots of laughs. We raised much-needed funds for the wonderful St Catherine’s, whilst helping the environment by collecting and recycling unwanted Christmas trees."
