Every step taken at Heli Hike in Surrey will help keep your local Air Ambulance Flying

Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) is delighted to announce that its popular Heli Hike in Surrey fundraising event is back for 2024 bigger and better than ever at a brand-new venue. The event takes place at Loseley Park, Guildford on 10 August and registrations are open now by going to aakss.org.uk/surrey-hike

As well as a family-friendly walk of either 3 or 7.5 miles through some lovely countryside, this year there will be a `Mini Medic Mile’ for younger members of the family. For the first time the event will also include a Heli Fun Day which will include games, a bouncy castle and a chance to meet members of the emergency services, including KSS crew and Skye the KSS mascot. Everyone is welcome, including dogs!

Operational commitments permitting, a KSS helicopter will be present and use the site as its operational base for the day. There will be a chance to meet KSS crew members and talk to them about their lifesaving work. Visitors will be able to learn about CPR, defibrillator and `stop the bleed’ training from Community First Responders.

Every penny raised by the event will go to support the charity’s critical lifesaving work. Last year the service was in demand more than ever before, with the charity responding to over 3,200  incidents across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

It costs over £51K a day to run the lifesaving service provided by KSS for the 4.8 million people who live in Kent, Surrey and Sussex. As 88% of the charity’s income is funded by its supporters, KSS needs the support of its communities now more than ever.

Chloe Prater, Events Coordinator at KSS, said: “Over 400 people in Surrey needed our lifesaving care last year. Most of them had been involved in a road traffic collision or had experienced a medical emergency like a cardiac arrest or stroke. One day you or your loved ones could need us. With your support now we’ll be there if you do.

“It’s going to be a fantastic event, with lots of fun in store for individuals, families, and groups of walkers, striding out across the Surrey countryside to help keep us flying and saving lives. By taking part in Heli Hike in Surrey, you can help to ensure we can be there when the worst happens.”
