Welcome to our August newsletter and the winding down of summer activities (and apparently the summer weather...!).
With the start of Autumn comes awards season, and we are pleased once again to be supporting two very close to our hearts here in the South East. The Adur and Worthing Business Awards (open to businesses in the local area) and the Made in the South East Awards (open to manufacturing businesses in the South East) are now open for entries. The AWBA close on Friday 9th September and the MISE Awards close on Thursday 8th September, so there is still plenty of time to enter!
September also brings Pensions Awareness Week, aimed at promoting the importance of saving for the future. Our colleagues at Carpenter Box Financial Advisers are hosting a webinar to celebrate, to help cut the jargon around pensions and discuss the benefits of a later life income. You can find out more about the event below.
Finally, Carpenter Box continues to grow and invest in our staff. We have a number of vacancies available across our offices, so if you're looking for a new opportunity please do get in touch. You can find out more about the day in the life of a trainee and see what Gabriella from our Audit department gets up to on an average day!
I hope you enjoy this month's newsletter and enjoy the long weekend.
Kind regards,
Alan

The Register of Overseas Entities is on its way
The Economic Crime (Transparency and Enforcement) Act came into force on 15 March 2022. The key outcome of this legislation was the introduction of a publicly accessible register of overseas legal entities that own UK land and their beneficial owners.
Below we offer an overview of the register and answer some frequently asked questions.

Are you ready for the changes to the Charities Act?
The Charities Act 2022 sees several changes to the Charities Act 2011 that it will supersede.
There is a key focus on reducing some of the administration and bureaucracy that currently exists by giving a little more freedom to trustees to act, in certain circumstances, without recall to the Charity Commission.

Carpenter Box Financial Advisers news update
Read the August newsletter!
Summer has arrived and despite the recent record temperatures, plenty of us will still be looking forward to jetting off to sunny climes abroad and relaxing.
But if you want to avoid the queues at the airports and ferry terminals, there are lots of exciting things going on in the UK to enjoy too.
From the Notting Hill Carnival and Edinburgh Festival Fringe to major music festivals such as Creamfields and the Reading and Leeds Festivals, the summer diary is packed once again, and that's before we've mentioned the Commonwealth Games, which are currently taking place in Birmingham.
However, we're very conscious that these are worrying times for many, as rising inflation affects household budgets and investments.
As always, if you have any concerns or questions, we're here and happy to help. So don't hesitate to get in touch.
