Update No 25 17th June 2021
More than eight out of ten people now vaccinated - don't miss out
New figures published today show the number of people who are getting vaccinated in our communities is continuing to go up. More than 82% of local people have now had their first vaccination, and 65% have had both doses. In addition, the number of people missing their second dose has dropped again. This week more than 50,000 people could get their vaccination across our sites - at the vaccination centres, local vaccination services and in our pharmacy services. There are more than 1000 appointments available each day now for people to walk in without an appointment - this can be for your first or your second.
The NHS is calling for people to come forward, especially as we approach the 19 July when government restrictions will be lifted.
Vaccines now available for walk ins every day of the week at Westgate Leisure Centre
From Monday this week, Westgate Leisure Centre vaccination service is now offering walk in vaccinations every single day.The vaccination centre has hundreds of appointments each day and is now offering them as walk in, so you don't need a booked appointment. The aim is that people will come with friends and family, and it will be as easy as possible without having to make an appointment in advance. The centres are open 08.30-19.00 every day of the week, offering 1st and 2nd doses for Pfizer and 2nd doses for AstraZeneca. Half a million vaccinations given by SCFT vaccinators
This week Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust reached a significant milestone in Sussex's vaccination efforts, as the 500,000th jab was given at SCFT's vaccination centres. Since opening their first centre at the Brighton Centre on 25 January, closely followed by sites in Chichester, Eastbourne and Crawley, their teams have seen people from all different roles from across the organisation come together to support the vaccination programme in Sussex. Since they opened:
• They have been open for 5,531 hours
• More than 2,000 staff have worked 282,315 hours (so far!)
• 40% of our vaccination centre staff previously worked in the travel industry
• 1.5 vaccinations are given every minute across our centres, or 88 per hour
• 823 volunteers have supported our vaccination centres, with amazing support from external organisations, including the Royal Voluntary Service
• Volunteers have given more than 84,344 hours of their time so far
To mark this amazing milestone, Mike Jennings, Deputy Chief Executive and Senior Responsible Officer for vaccination centres, has sent this special message to every single member of staff and volunteer who has made this possible:
