CJRS extended plus the latest COVID-19 updates from gdb Member MHA Carpenter Box

Coronavirus (COVID-19) updates

Last Sunday, along with millions of other individuals, I watched the update from Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Following the Government's updated guidance, there will be no change at this stage to our existing work place patterns, which will remain in place until further notice. Our team have adapted extremely well at working remotely, and are still contactable through their normal channels.

On Tuesday, we also heard from Chancellor Rishi Sunak, who announced an extension to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, with furloughed staff continuing to receive the current 80% of salary (capped at £2,500 per month) until the end of October 2020.

The scheme will continue in its current form until the end of July. From 1 August, changes to the scheme will allow for more flexibility, with the expectation that businesses will contribute to the salary cost of furloughed staff.

Applications open today to make a claim for the Self Employed Income Support Scheme (SEISS). Below, we include a guide on making an SEISS claim, as well as the impact COVID-19 funding may have on Research & Development tax relief and your Automatic Enrolment responsibilities as an employer.

As a reminder, our dedicated Coronavirus Hub on our website reflects the latest news from the Government, so we encourage you to check this page regularly. The Hub contains links to useful blogs and information sheets to offer you guidance and reassurance during these unsettling times.
