This autumn, as part of a nationwide initiative with 16 other hospices, St Catherine's Hospice is asking you to invite your family, friends or colleagues to a Big Get Together.
Your Big Get Together can be anything you like, from a cocktails-and-canapés evening to a board games night, from a pamper party to a 1920s gin and dancing event; so whether you dust off your dancing shoes, decorate those cakes or dig out your wine glasses to raise money it doesn't matter, it just matters that you do!
By hosting a Big Get Together you'll be helping local people living with terminal illness to socialise with others in a similar situation at St Catherine's Day Hospices in Crawley and Reigate. Stanley is just one person who attends Day Hospice. He explains: "At St Catherine's, I can talk to people who truly care and share my thoughts and feelings with others who understand. I honestly couldn't do without my weekly Day Hospice visits. St Catherine's gives me something to look forward to and feels like home. Every time I come here, I feel completely enveloped in love."
You can hold your Big Get Together on a date that suits you but St Catherine's is encouraging as many people as possible to host a get together during national Hospice Care Week, which takes place from Monday 9 October to Sunday 15 October, and celebrates the work hospices do caring for people in their local communities
Hannah Cooke, Events Fundraising Assistant at St Catherine's said: "Hospice Care Week is the ideal time to support your local hospice, show off your hosting skills, and spend quality time with family, friends or colleagues. Your efforts hosting a Big Get Together will make a huge difference to the people we care for, and we can't wait to hear all your Big Get Together plans!"
